What information do we collect?

We collect information when you register and when you take part by reading, writing, and rating content.

At registration you provide a name and an e-mail address. You can browse without registering. Your e-mail address is verified through a unique link. When you post, we record the IP address the post came from. We also keep server logs that include the IP address of requests to our server.

Why we use it, and on what legal basis

  • To run the forum and provide your account and posts. Legal basis: performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
  • To keep the forum secure and working (server logs, abuse prevention, IP records). Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a safe, functioning service (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
  • To send account-related e-mails such as verification and the notifications you choose. Legal basis: contract and, where you opt in, your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).

Cookies

We use cookies that are necessary to keep you logged in and to remember your preferences. We do not use them for advertising.

Who we share data with

We do not sell or rent your personal data. We use service providers who help us run the forum (hosting, e-mail delivery, and a content delivery and security provider) and who process data only on our instructions. If any of these providers are located outside the EU/EEA, that transfer is covered by appropriate safeguards such as EU Standard Contractual Clauses. We may disclose data where legally required.

How long we keep it

  • Server logs with IP addresses: no longer than [e.g. 30] days.
  • Account data and posts: until you delete your account, after which personal data is removed or anonymised, except where we must keep it by law.

Your rights under the GDPR

You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, and port your data, and to object to processing based on legitimate interests. You can withdraw consent at any time. Age

This forum is not directed at children. If you are under 16, please do not register without the consent of a parent or guardian (Art. 8 GDPR).

Third-party links

We sometimes link to third-party sites. They have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their content or practices.

Spam protection (hCaptcha)

To protect registration and login against bots and abuse, we use hCaptcha, a service of Intuition Machines, Inc. (USA). hCaptcha processes your IP address and browser information to distinguish humans from bots. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in keeping the forum free of spam and abuse (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Data may be transferred to the USA; Intuition Machines participates in the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and uses EU Standard Contractual Clauses. See https://www.hcaptcha.com/privacy .

Content delivery and security (Cloudflare)

This forum is delivered through Cloudflare, Inc. (USA), which acts as a content delivery network and protects against attacks. Cloudflare processes connection data including your IP address to deliver and secure the site. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a fast and secure service (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Analytics (Matomo, self-hosted)

We use Matomo, a web analytics tool that we host ourselves on our own server. Your data is not passed to any third party. We use it to understand how the forum is used and to improve it. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in an effective website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Matomo is configured for privacy: IP addresses are anonymised, no tracking cookies are set, and the data is not combined with other sources. You can object to this analytics at any time:
